Obituary for James “Jim” McGill | June 22, 2024

James Joseph McGill, 78, of Mansfield Center, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024, surrounded by his adoring family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on April 13, 1946.

Jim grew up in West Hartford and graduated from Northwest Catholic High School. In 1967 he married Patricia, and together they had two sons, Michael and Scott. He enjoyed hosting the annual Fourth of July family picnic and enthusiastically supported the Boston Red Sox and UConn sports teams. A combat veteran, Jim honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After military service, he graduated from Central Connecticut State University. Jim went on to devote four decades of his professional life to the State of Connecticut as an IT specialist, retiring in 2003.
