Utah Hockey Club makes NHL debut against St. Louis Blues at Wells Fargo Arena

Hockey fans will get their first glimpse of the new Utah Hockey Club in Des Moines later this year.

Utah makes its NHL debut with a preseason game against the St. Louis Blues on September 22 at Wells Fargo Arena at 6 p.m.

It is the first competitive game for the Utah Hockey Club since the NHL established a new franchise in Utah following the sale of the Arizona Coyotes’ hockey assets to the new club.

Wells Fargo Arena is home to the Iowa Wild, the top minor league affiliate of the Minnesota Wild.

“Whether you are a fan of one of these teams, the Wild, or the sport in general, it is a fantastic opportunity for central Iowa sports fans to experience hockey at the NHL level and get the season started,” said Chris Connolly , the general manager of the Iowa Events Center said in a statement.

Tickets for the event, called the Des Moines Community Classic presented by Community Choice, will go on sale June 28 at 10 a.m., Hy-VeeTix.com
