What are the best and worst position groups on the 2024 Denver Broncos roster?

The Denver Broncos have a number of talented position groups on their roster, but which one is the best? Conversely: what’s the worst? Denver’s roster is largely viewed in the NFL as being pretty weak, but I just don’t buy that idea. The Broncos have made significant progress with their roster this season, and it certainly isn’t a bad one.

The 2023 Houston Texans received similar treatment last season, and look what happened. I’m not saying Denver is about to win ten games and make the postseason, but it’s hard not to think highly of this team entering the new league year. Of all the position groups on the team’s roster, which one is the best?

And what’s the worst?

Pretty cut and dry for me; the Denver Broncos offensive line is as solid as they come, and even though the team lost Lloyd Cushenberry in free agency this offseason, the unit is one of the better in the NFL on paper. Garett Bolles, Ben Powers, Quinn Meinerz, and Mike McGlinchey are all solid at their respective jobs, and Meinerz is the best player on this unit.

Not many other teams can say they have a four-man strength on the OL like the Denver Broncos. Don’t let the sacks fool you, as Russell Wilson took a lot in 2023, but that’s exactly the type of player he’s always been. Denver’s offensive line was pretty good when you look beyond Wilson’s sack totals and watch the film.

I’m not sure this comes close. Denver may have the worst room of TEs in the entire NFL. The top three heading into the 2024 NFL season appear to be Adam Trautman, Greg Dulcich and Lucas Krull. Yeah, the ceiling here with Dulcich and Krull could be pretty high, so maybe that’s what Sean Payton and the coaching staff here are counting on. However, at the moment the unit is downright poor and a huge negative in this squad.

Denver did have a chance to add a TE or two in free agency, but they simply re-signed Trautman. Maybe Sean Payton has a plan for this room or maybe he thinks Dulcich or Krull (or both!) could become great artists.

It’s good that the TE spot here isn’t a life or death situation. There are still some key positions left on the roster, so Denver, who has a weaker TE room, shouldn’t be a dagger at all this season.
