Cooling centers in Central Arkansas open during extreme heat

LITTLE ROCK, Ark – Little Rock and North Little Rock are opening cooling centers to address the heat wave that has taken hold in central Arkansas.

SMALL STONE


  • Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

  • Monday and Tuesday from 10am to 6pm

Officials say the cooling centers are open to residents who need a safe and comfortable space to take a break from the heat.

City officials will monitor weather forecasts throughout the summer to determine when to open during extreme heat.

Residents are asked to check on their neighbors (especially those over 65, children under the age of four or anyone with a disability or medical condition).

Also a reminder to never leave a child or pet alone in a parked vehicle and always carry water to hydrate during peak heat times.
