Tornado warning issued for part of metro Des Moines

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for northeastern Madison County and northwestern Madison County Tuesday evening until 7:30 p.m.

It said a law enforcement agency confirmed a tornado over Cumming of Norwalk, moving south at 5 mph. Bevington, Spring Hill and Martensdale, and Interstate 35 between mileposts 55 and 65 were also affected, it said.

Another tornado was spotted near Badger Creek State Park, 6 miles southwest of West Dsds Moines, and also moved south.

The weather service warned that people in the affected area should immediately take cover in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
