Perry Firefighters Association Grab-n-Go Dinner

5:00 PM – 6:30 PM Friday, June 28 at 908 Willis Ave., Perry.

The Perry Firefighters Association will be serving a Grab-n-Go dinner in the Perry Fire Department parking lot on Friday, June 28. The menu includes hot dogs for $5, cheeseburgers or pork loin sandwiches for $8 and steak sandwiches for $12. Each meal includes chips and a drink.

Outdoor summer movie

8:30 PM Friday, June 28 at 2200 Walnut St., Granger.

The Granger Parks & Recreation Department will continue its outdoor summer film series with “Back to the Future” on Friday, June 28. The film will be shown on the north side of the Community Center on the grass. Popcorn and candy are available for purchase. Upcoming films include ‘Elemental’ on July 19 and ‘The Super Mario Bros.’ Movie’ on August 23.

Movie in the park

8:45 PM Friday, June 28 at Kinnick-Feller Park.

Join Adel Parks and Rec for a free screening of “Trolls Band Together” on Friday, June 28. The film will be shown on the big screen set up at the gazebo in Kinnick-Feller Park. Bring your own garden chair or blanket. Popcorn is provided. The film starts at sunset.

Yoga in the park

Saturday, June 29 from 8am to 9am at Centennial Park, Granger.

Join Jessica for Yoga in the Park on the following dates: June 29; July 6,13, 20 and 27; August 3, 10 and 17. Bring a towel or yoga mat. Yoga in the Park is a free program open to all ages.

Van Meter Parks & Recreation is sponsoring yoga this summer. Please note the new location, if it rains we can still practice under a roof. Bring a beach towel or yoga mat and move with us in the outdoors. This exercise requires the ability to get up and down from the ground. Yoga in the Park will be held on June 29, July 13 and 20 and August 3.

Voas Volunteer Day

9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29 at Voas Nature Area, 19286 Lexington Road, Minburn.

Dallas County Conservation Board has a new bird blind at Voas Nature Area. It is strategically located where there is moving water, which is great for attracting non-feeding birds. Unfortunately, the area is home to invasive autumn olive trees and honeysuckle that need to be removed. DCCB needs help cleaning up this area so that our birds have native species to nest and forage in. Registration required for this free program via DCCB’s Eventbrite page.

Woodward Social Center Luncheon

11:30am – 12:30pm Monday, July 1 at Woodward Social Center.

The Woodward Social Center will be serving lunch on Monday, July 1. The menu includes beef sandwiches, rosemary potatoes, house-made mac and cheese, salads and dessert bars. A voluntary contribution will be made to support the Woodward Public Library.

LifeServe Blood Center is calling on all community members to participate in blood donation drives throughout the month of July in your area. Every donation strengthens the blood supply for local hospitals, and LifeServe wants to highlight the critical role each donor plays in supporting healthcare services within their own communities. “Dip on DMACC” Polar Day Event: Perry

Waukee’s Independence Day Celebration returns July 3 and 4 in Centennial Park. Enjoy classic American summer activities, from a pancake breakfast to a pie-eating contest to professional fireworks and a parade. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Minburn’s Fourth of July Celebration

July 3-4 in Minburn.

Minburn’s Fourth of July festivities kick off with a Meet Me in Minburn concert from 7 to 9 p.m. on July 3 at Meek Park. A voluntary donation meal will be served by the Friends of the Minburn Library from 5.30pm to 7pm. Nachos grande is served with contributions from Casa Oaxaca. Kick will provide live music from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The outdoor skating rink is also open, with free skate rental. The festivities continue on July 4 with a parade at 9 a.m. (line-up at 8:30 a.m. at the co-op), family games at Rogers Park, bag tournament at Mudders, lunch and bingo at the Food Shelter, All Wheels Show, music, cake auction and more. Perry Fine Arts presents its annual Musical Extravaganza and Ice Cream Social on July 4. Perry Fine Arts’ annual variety show has been in existence for 49 years. It has become a mainstay of Perry’s Fourth of July festivities. Come and enjoy, in air-conditioned comfort, as Perry area performers entertain you with song and instrumental music. After the program, come and have a chat while enjoying a scoop of ice cream and treats. Perry Fine Arts concerts are free and open to everyone. A voluntary contribution will be made and a reception will take place after the concert. The building is accessible to the disabled and air-conditioned.

Fourth of July Grill

Join us at Board and Batten and Century Farms Park for a 4th of July grill with Bob Pace. Complimentary hamburgers and hot dogs will be prepared on the ‘Slaughter Grill’ (Grill Master Brian), but donations will be gratefully accepted, with 100% of all donations benefiting the Dallas Center Parks & Recreation Department. IA Hall of Fame Blues Artist Bob Pace will be performing indoors, Jimmy’s Bar at B&B will be serving your favorite drinks, and the store will have some cool new gift items available, with a % of ALL sales at B&B also going to the Parks & B&B . Memorial Golf Tournament

Sunday, July 7 at Perry Golf and Country Club.

Each year, Perry Golf and Country Club honors the memory of a former member who has had a significant impact on the club. This year, the 11th annual Memorial Golf Tournament will be played in honor of the late Merle Adamson. The Memorial Golf Tournament is open to all who wish to play. The Championship Flight will play 27 holes, while the Senior Division, Super Senior Division and all other flights will play 18 holes. To enter, call the clubhouse at (515) 465-3852.

Evening Paddle Program

Tuesday, July 9 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, to be determined.

The outdoors are filled with bustling activity as day turns into night. Join Dallas County Conservation and other fellow boaters on the water and enjoy all the beauty that nature has to offer at this time of day. Location/route will be determined the week of the event based on current water levels around Dallas County. Participants must provide their own boats, paddles and life jackets. Free merchant movies

11am Wednesday, July 10 at Perry Grand 3 Theaters.

The Perry Grand 3 Theaters will continue its 2024 summer movie season on Wednesday, July 10 with “Migration.” All films will be shown on Wednesdays through August 7 at 11 a.m. Admission is free thanks to local sponsors. Ice cream social

5-7pm Sunday, July 14 at Panther Creek Church of the Brethren, 24529 J. Ave. Adel (8 miles NW of Adel, 16 miles S of Perry).

You are invited to an ice cream social on Sunday, July 14 at the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren. There will be homemade ice cream, cakes and other desserts. A voluntary contribution is accepted in support of CCEPI (Center for Caring, Empowerment and Peace Initiatives).
