Guest House needs volunteers

Becoming a museum educator is easy and fun. You only have to spend a few hours per month on it. As a teacher, you will be a warm and welcoming presence, greeting visitors and assisting with postcards and book sales. You can also find out more about our city and region: there is something for everyone! You don’t have to be a historian or a “history nerd” to participate. For more information, call 707-964-4251 or email [email protected].

Fourth of July Parade

The Mendocino 4th of July Parade has been taking place since 1976. Hundreds of people line Main and Lansing Streets every year to experience this fun, funky and festive event. Get there early to get a good spot!

The construction of one-way road closures just north of the Mendocino traffic light at Little Lake and Highway 1 will continue to delay the time to get to the parade. If you have a float or other participation in the parade, we don’t want you to miss out. Participants will check in at Crown Hall at 10:30 AM. The parade will begin promptly at noon from the west side of Main Street. Also be aware of road closures at Lansing Street and Highway 1. Parade exits are only permitted at Main Street and Little Lake.

This year’s theme is ‘Be Humane’, so why not stick around after the parade and continue the celebrations with family and friends, furry or otherwise? Rotary Park will have music, food and drinks, and most restaurants will reopen. There is also the Flynn Creek Circus in Friendship Park. Why rush out of town when there are lots of activities after the parade ends? AVOID the traffic jams. For information on parade admission and sponsorship, visit the Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce website at www.mendocinocoast.com.
