FSU softball brings former SEC pitcher, utility player

Head Coach Lonni Alameda and the Florida State softball program picked up their second transfer signing of the summer when the Seminoles signed pitcher and utility player Annabelle Widra. Widra still has one year to qualify.

In two years at Auburn, Widra racked up 53 starts, made 92 appearances and played around the diamond for the Tigers. In 2024, Widra started 21 games at third base, eight games at second base, one game at shortstop and made five starts in the circle. Widra hit .259 in 85 at-bats for Auburn, driving in 11 runs while hitting two home runs.

Inside the circle, Widra made 22 appearances while pitching 41.2 innings. She posted a 2.86 ERA and walked just three batters while striking out 38. Widra’s best pitching performance of the season came against rival Alabama, where Widra pitched a complete game shutout and allowed only four hits to earn the win against the Crimson Tide.

In 2023, Widra played in 43 games and made 14 starts. She hit .250 in 44 at bats and drove in eight runs. Widra saw significant time in the circle in 2023, pitching a career-high 79.2 innings and posting a 2.72 ERA. Her strikeout-to-walk ratio was stellar as she struck out 75 batters compared to just 17 walks, which ranked sixth in the SEC.

The Hoover, Ala., native began her career with the Michigan Wolverines, where she played in 48 games and made 12 starts. She pitched 32.1 innings for the Wolverines and posted a 1.73 ERA while striking out 31 batters.
