Indiana Grown: Sod n’ Turf – Indianapolis News | Weather Indiana | Indiana traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Every Saturday, WISH-TV joins our partners at Indiana Grown to highlight a local business.

This week, Phillip Harris, owner of Tomato Shack and Sod n’ Turf, joins News 8 on Daybreak.

“They are both businesses run by me and run by their families. Located in Delaware County, Indiana, northeast of Indianapolis,” Harris said.

Tomato Shack is a small farm that sells fresh produce directly to customers.

“We sell sweet corn and tomatoes, heirlooms. Plus, we also sell that roadside at a local farmers market on weekends,” he said.

Sod n’ Turf is a premier turf farm in southeastern Muncie, Indiana, with a rich heritage of more than 40 years of growing and supplying quality turf to Indianapolis, according to the company’s website.

“The sod is a bit of a new product. Opened for the third year as Sod n’ Turf, and sod is a beautiful product. It is a great building material that can be used as a nice finishing touch,” said Harris. “It has an immediate appeal. It is great for erosion control. It is great for weed control and even has a return value of about 100% to 200% of the amount you invest in it.”

Customers can contact Harris at 765-717-8229 for orders or questions.
