Welcome to the third weekend of April! Here are highlights for today/tonight, mostly from WSB West Seattle events calendar:

LOW BRIDGE CLOSURE: The West Seattle Low Bridge will now be closed to road and trail traffic for upgrades and will reopen no later than the early morning of April 29. More closing details from SDOT here (including how to get free rides on the water taxi or metro buses).

WATER TAXI ADDS LATER EVENING RUNS: The spring/summer season has officially started for the Water Taxi West Seattlewhich means that there will be a later evening ride tonight.

RECORD SHOPPING DAY IN EASY STREET, WITH THUNDER ROAD BENEFITS: It’s that magical day when Easy street records (4559 California SW) joins record stores from coast to coast in welcoming music lovers to unique deals. DELRIDGE GROCERY’S LAST RETAIL WEEKEND: Discounts for everyone if Delridge Grocery Cooperative will end retail operations at 5444 Delridge Way SW – store today from 9am to 3pm.

WHITE CENTER SPRING CLEAN: Help clean up downtown White Center – meet your fellow volunteers at 9am on 98/15.

HIKING SEASON! Today marks the first of this year’s free monthly guided hikes in the West Duwamish Greenbelt! Meet at the south end of the Pathfinder K-8 parking lot at 1901 SW Genesee at 9:30 am.

HEALTHY CHILDREN’S DAY AT THE Y: 10am to 1pm, lots of free fun for kids in the West Seattle YMCA (36th/Snoqualmie; WSB sponsor), membership not required (but if you think about it, you can still get in on the deal with no joining fee while you’re there).

EARTH DAY VOLUNTEER WITH THE TROLL: Lots of volunteer opportunities today for Earth Day weekend. As of early this morning, there is still a place to participate in forest restoration in the area Brun Idun up the troll Lincoln Park – 9am to 12pm.

DUWAMISH ALIVE! Multiple volunteer work parties in the river catchment, 10am – 2pm, details in our diary – also an opening ceremony (all welcome even if you don’t volunteer) on həʔapus Village Park; details here.

HELP THE BEE GARDEN: Learn leaf mulching while you’re at it! 10am – details in our calendar listing. (Graham/Lanham)

SSC GARDEN CENTER: Plants are waiting for you on the north side of the South Seattle College (6000 16th SW; WSB Sponsor) campus, 10am – 3pm.
