NH, MA restaurants must provide free wine for phone-free dining

Best Restaurants on the New Hampshire and Massachusetts Coast,

Hi. It’s your buddy, Sarah. You and I have a great relationship. About a few times a week I pop into your lovely establishment, sit down and usually immediately order a glass of wine for about $15 dollars. Then I order an entree, pay the bill, give you a tip and move on. However, if you gave me and my dining companion a free bottle of wine when I walked in, my rating would skyrocket, and so would your tip at the end of the evening.

Please, New Englanders, adopt this idea for your restaurants

According to The Guardian, there’s a restaurant in Italy that’s offering people a free bottle of wine when they come in if they hand over their phone while they’re there so they can actually enjoy the company they’re with. It’s in Verona, Italy, and from the looks of their website it’s a fancy place.

Think about it, restaurants in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. You could start a trend that will spread to the rest of the country. What heroes you would be! When you think about the cost of a bottle of wine, no one said you have to use the top shelf bottle. Chill the be-geezus out of that cheap Pinot. That will work. But if it’s the good stuff, then I salute you.

It’s so rude to look at your phone when you’re having dinner with someone

Sometimes when I go out to dinner with someone and they are constantly checking their phone, I get very upset. I mean, why am I even there? I have a lot of things I could be doing instead of sitting at the table with someone who is looking at their phone the whole time. There are rare exceptions. For example, if you’re going to the movies after dinner and want to check the time, fine.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my phone and spend a lot of time on it just like you do. However, the thought of going back to 1999 gives me fear and joy at the same time, just like your phone.
