UAPB throws farewell party for outgoing Chancellor | KLRT

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The end of an era at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

The university said goodbye to its former chancellor on Wednesday.

Laurance B. Alexander has been the leader of the UAPB for more than a decade.

The school held a farewell party on Wednesday to show appreciation for his achievements over the years.

Alexander, who has been with UAPB since 2013, is leaving to become the new chancellor of the University of Michigan in Flint.

He says he is proud of the university’s success and leaves its future in good hands.

“It’s bittersweet to leave here, but it’s a great time because we have great leaders to keep going,” Alexander said.

The university has appointed Andrea Stewart as interim chancellor, effective July 1.

Stewart, who currently serves as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at UAPB, will lead the national search for Alexander’s permanent replacement.
