Reasons why Rose Namajunas is favored to win

Rose Namajunas is widely regarded as one of the best female fighters of her generation. She has a total of 12-6, which is very impressive, especially since seven of her UFC fights have been championship fights.

Speaking of which, she is a former strawweight champion who ruled the division in two stints. However, after losing the championship title to Carla Esparza in 2022, she decided to move up a weight class.

In September 2023, she made her flyweight debut against Manon Fiorot. The French fighter is bigger and much stronger than Thug Rose, so it’s no surprise that she beat her up and ultimately won by unanimous decision.

In her second flyweight fight, Rose won against Amanda Ribas, but there is a caveat. Neither fighter looked particularly impressive in that fight, with each taking only minor damage. And let’s not forget that Ribas is another small flyweight who probably belongs in the strawweight division.

Can Tracy Cortez pull off an upset on July 13?

Tracy Cortez was originally scheduled to fight Miranda Maverick at UFC Denver on July 13. Maverick is known for being great in the clinch, which is probably why Cortez has been working on her wrestling in recent weeks.

But she doesn’t have to worry about that anymore, as she’s fighting Namajunas, who last won by submission in 2017. Instead, this is likely to be a high-profile matchup. Is this good news for Cortez?

It should be, especially considering she put on a remarkable masterclass in her previous fight. Last September, she defeated Jasmine Jasudavicious in a fight in which she landed 103 significant punches – the most of her entire career.

Rose Namajunas vs. Tracy Cortez Prediction

Namajunas should be lucky to get a new opponent as Barber would have steamrolled her. However, Cortez doesn’t look like someone who could do the same. Instead, we think Namajunas will win this fight, but she will probably have to work hard to win. In fact, we suspect this fight will last the full 25 minutes.
