Baton Rouge business owner eyes new congressional seat, District 6

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Another candidate has entered the race for the newly elected sixth congressional district that stretches from Shreveport to Baton Rouge.

The Louisiana Legislature created the district in January 2024.

According to his website, Quentin Anderson received his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech and his law degree from Louisiana State University.

Anderson says he is from Baton Rouge and advocates for social and environmental justice.

“Tackling infrastructure, political culture and making sure we tackle that crime in a realistic, evidence-based approach. I think these are things that, if we do, will create a really strong foundation for a new generation of Louisiana leaders to come back here and want to invest here and grow here,” Anderson said.

According to his website, Quentin will have the 2021 Black Business Bureau of Baton Rouge “designed to empower Black-owned businesses.”

The deadline for qualification is July 19 and Election Day is November 5.
