Linnie (Laird) Winters

Linnie (Laird) Winters, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on June 21, 2024. Linnie was born on August 23, 1948 to Carl E. (Andy) Laird and Betty (June) Laird. a life of dedication, love and service.

Linnie retired from the Topeka Police Department in 2006 after a 27-year career where she served with distinction and unwavering dedication.

Linnie is survived by her husband of 41 years, Rodger E. Winters, who was by her side with love and support throughout their journey together. She is also survived by her children, Paul Winters, and Kimberly Parker, as well as her granddaughters, Ashley Humiston and Jordan Parker, their partners Jason Garwood and Matthew Krogman, and her great-grandchildren, Kynleigh, Karsyn, Jaxon, Rylee, Harper. , Kyndall and Jordan. Her family was her world and she cherished every moment she spent with them.

Linnie was a member of Belmont Nazarene Church and attended First United Methodist Church in Salina, Kansas. Linnie’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She moved to Salina to be closer to her great-grandchildren and embraced her role as a loving grandmother with open arms. Linnie’s generosity knew no bounds; she volunteered for Meals on Wheels, provided food and companionship to those in need, and served as a mentor at local schools. Linnie’s love for animals, especially cats, was reflected in her tireless support of numerous animal organizations.

Linnie’s life will be celebrated at the Ryan Mortuary & Crematory in Salina, Kansas, Friday, June 28, 2024 at 10:00 AM, with burial at the Meriden Cemetery in Meriden, Kansas the same day at 4:00 PM. Her life was a testament to love, service and generosity, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family invites anyone who wants to share in their love for Linnie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salina Animal Shelter, in honor of Linnie’s lifelong passion and dedication.

Linnie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and community. Her legacy of kindness, generosity and dedication to helping others will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
