Sarota Homers loses at Morehead State

The Lindenwood baseball team (13-25, 6-8 OVC) dropped the second game of their weekend series to Morehead State (22-17, 7-7 OVC) by a final score of 10-4 on Saturday afternoon in Morehead, Ky. .

After Friday night’s thrilling comeback in the ninth inning, Lindenwood wasted little time Saturday in taking an early lead over Morehead State, as Bryson Arnette single house Kam Edwards who had doubled earlier in the inning.

The score remained 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning, which started with a Dawson Hokuf walk and another Arnette single. Philip Sarota was the third Lion to come to bat during the inning and he promptly hit a three-run home run to left field, extending Lindenwood’s lead to 4-0.

Lindenwood successfully protected its four-run lead until the bottom of the sixth inning, when Morehead State scored four runs of its own to tie the score, 4-4.

The Eagles added four more runs during the bottom of the seventh inning and two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, building a 10-4 lead over the Lions.

Eli Brown started the game on the mound for Lindenwood, striking out three batters and allowing four earned runs. Brown started the game with five scoreless innings.
