More signs on the main street Lac La Biche

From certain angles it can already look a bit busy with signs along Lac La Biche’s main street, as this photo from our newsroom shows – but more signs will appear in the coming days as the next phase of the downtown construction project starts.

Lac La Biche County officials are urging residents to look for detour and construction signs and follow maps on the municipal website.

Like last year, the next phase of construction of the $32.5 million Main Street Revitalization project will see a portion of downtown’s main corridor blocked to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Large metal construction fencing is expected to be installed in the coming weeks to cordon off an area along 101 Avenue from 102 Street to 101 Street.

The final phase of the construction project is expected to last from April 23 to the end of October.

Following an increasing number of complaints of trespassing and vandalism downtown during last year’s construction season, local police and peace officers will also be increasing downtown patrols during the summer months as a sign of the times.
