Riders explode in 10th place for overtime win

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – The Frisco RoughRiders scored four times in the top of the 10th inning en route to an 8-4 victory over the Arkansas Travelers Saturday night from Dickey-Stephens Park.

With the score tied at 4-4 entering the 10th inning, the Riders (9-5) took the lead on an RBI single by Aaron Zavala. After an intentional walk to Josh Hatcher loaded the bases, Maximo Acosta ripped a two-run single into right-center field to lift the lead to 7-4. Hatcher then scored on a steal from home plate with a double steal on.

Triston Polley (1-1) pitched scoreless ninth and 10th innings to get the win, while Travis Kuhn (1-1) was handed the loss for Arkansas (8-6), allowing all the runs from the 10th inning.

Emiliano Teodo was strong in his start for Frisco, throwing a best five innings of the season, giving up only an unearned run on four hits, while striking out three and walking one.

To get the scoring started, Frisco scored a pair of runs in the second. Cody Freeman hit an RBI single to make it 1-0 before Cooper Johnson continued with an RBI ground out.

After the Travelers scored a run in the bottom of the fourth, Frainyer Chavez blasted his first home run of the season in the fifth to make it 3-1, and Frisco scored again on a throwing error by Anchia in the sixth.

The Travelers then tied the game at three in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving Frisco the extra-inning victory.

Zavala, Kellen Strahm and Hatcher all recorded two goals on the day for the Riders.

The RoughRiders and Travelers meet on Sunday April 21 at 1.35pm for the final of the six matches. The RoughRiders will have RHP Nick Krauth (1-0, 6.52) starting against RHP Raul Alcantara (1-0, 2.89) for the Travelers.
