This weekend marks the 48th annual Daffodil Festival, beginning Thursday, April 25 and running through Sunday, April 28. Nantucket Stream has collected all upcoming events and put them in one place for the convenience of our readers. Flower Crown Party in the Dreamland Theater Harborview Room

On Thursday, April 25 from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, head to the Dreamland Theater and learn how to make a lush flower crown at the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce. Choose from a variety of daffodils, flowers and greenery to complete the look. At the end of the class you will have a beautiful crown, just in time to stroll to Main Street for the Antique Car Show and ‘Sconset’ for the community tailgate picnic. Absolutely no experience is necessary.

The ticket price includes flower crown materials, two drink vouchers and hors d’oeuvres. Visitors will also have a chance to win a Daffodil Swag Bag, courtesy of the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce. You can buy your tickets here.

Head to St. Paul’s Church at 20 Fair Street on Friday, April 26 from 11am – 3pm for a special shopping opportunity. Enjoy a diverse market with fantastic items, from professional photography to unique jewelry. You don’t want to miss it. This is a signature event of the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce.

Daffodil Festival Salvage Mercantile Showcase

Discover the past and future of salvage on Nantucket at Sherburne Hall (11 Center Street) on Friday, April 26 from noon to 4 p.m. Learn more about integrating salvage and reuse into the design and look for sustainable reused items in a pop-up shop. Join the Current Vintage & Nantucket Wine and Food Festival at 4 Easy Street on Friday, April 26 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM for their annual Daffodil Tasting. They serve the favorite sips from this year’s Wine Festival and serve delicious cheese and charcuterie from the central heating pantry. Enjoy exclusive access to discounted tickets to Nantucket Wine Festival events, including 25% off tickets to the Harbor Gala on Thursday evening of the Wine Festival (May 16), as well as select Wine Fest Grand Tasting Sessions on Saturday and Sunday (18 and May 19).

The Daffodil Festival Weekend kicks off on Friday, April 26 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the Nantucket Historical Association’s Flower Power Party, in partnership with N Magazine and the Nantucket Chamber. Heavy hors d’oeuvres, festive libations, a photo booth and a prize for the best “blooming” outfit! The party is at the Whaling Museum (13 Broad Street). Concert ‘It might as well be spring’

On Friday, April 26, beginning at 7 p.m., Joe Hammer, Music Director of St. Paul’s Church, will be joined by other talented local musicians to present a selection of music celebrating the joys of spring. Bubbly and canapes will be served: $20 at the door and the concert will take place at St. Paul’s Church (20 Fair Street).

Clean Team Daffy Clean Up

Help clean up various areas of Nantucket on Saturday, April 27 from 8 a.m. The Clean Team is a group of more than four hundred Nantucketers who are committed to keeping our island’s beaches, dunes, roadsides and bike paths litter-free. Anyone interested is asked to meet at the Handlebar Cafe (15 Washington Street).

A Safe Place’s 25th Annual Clothesline Project

Join A Safe Place on Saturday, April 27 from 8:30am – 12:00pm for their 25th annual clothesline project. The Clothesline Project is an emotionally moving art exhibit consisting of t-shirts decorated by local survivors of domestic and sexual violence to honor survivors, aid in the healing process, and raise awareness of the issues of domestic and sexual violence.

Free materials will be available for participants to make their own t-shirts and add them to the exhibition if they so choose.

48th Nantucket Daffodil Festival Weekend Antique Car Parade and Tailgate Picnic

Head into town on Saturday, April 27 morning to see the decorated vintage cars on Main Street. (Drivers are often dressed in themed costumes!) Vote for your favorites. “People’s Choice” ballots are available outside the Chamber office on Zero Main Street. The car parade starts at 9:30 am. The car parade starts at noon and follows this route: right on Center Street, right on Broad Street, right on South Water Street and back onto Main Street. Cars stay left onto Orange Street and head out of town, around the Rotary and up Milestone Road to ‘Sconset. Cars park on the right side. All picnics are eligible to win ribbons. This is a signature event of the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce.

Visit the ACK 4170 Daffy Shop at Easy Street 7 (Victoria Greenhood Jewelry shop) on Saturday April 27 from 9:30 am for all your Daffy goodies. This will continue until they sell out (and they will).

Daffodil Festival Hat Parade

On Saturday April 27 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am you can demonstrate your creativity at the children’s beach music stall with a festively decorated hat with a daffodil theme (elegant or crazy) and participate in the parade. Open to men, women and children. Ribbons awarded in the adult and children categories. This is a signature event of the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce.

On Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28 from 10am – 5pm, Nantucket’s Gallery at 4 India Street will celebrate Daffodil Weekend with an exhibition of Fine Contemporary Art Glass. Daffodil vases, hand blown and etched by Cynthia Myers, hand blown, sandblasted and carved bowl by Dick Hess; water goblets hand-blown in Tutti Frutti reed glass by Robert Dane; and a masterpiece sculpture in yellow cut crystal by Tom Marosz are just some of the exquisite artefacts available at The Gallery.

Refreshments are served between 12 noon and 3 p.m. This event takes place on the second floor of the gallery.

Daffodil Festival Children’s Bicycle Parade

On Saturday, April 27 from 10:35 AM to 11:00 AM, the children’s bicycle parade is fun for children of all ages and their families! Decorate your bike, cart, skateboard, stroller or other self-driving vehicle with a Daffodil theme, or just come decked out in your best Daffy gear. Ribbons will be awarded to all participants. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult and all children on bicycles must wear a helmet. The staging begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Children’s Beach Bandstand. This is a signature event of the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce.

Daffodil Festival Visit with Barnaby Bear at Children’s Beach

On Saturday, April 27 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM you will meet Barnaby Bear this Daffodil Weekend. Join author Wendy Rouillard and her best friend, Barnaby Bear, as they meet and greet families at Children’s Beach. There will be surprise giveaways available.

11th Annual Daffy Dog Parade

On Saturday, April 27 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM, all friendly, leashed puppies are welcome to participate in the 11th Annual Daffy Dog Parade (Daffy costumes and decorations are strongly encouraged.) 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes are awarded and dogs must be registered to win. Register in advance from 10am – 12pm at the corner table on Federal & Main Street. Proceeds benefit Nantucket Island Safe Harbor for Animals (NiSHA). The parade is held at Children’s Beach. This is a signature event of the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce.

Annual Community Daffodil Flower Show

On Saturday, April 27 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, don’t miss the Nantucket Garden Club’s annual Daffodil Flower Show featuring daffodil flower entries, floral arrangements and photography entries. Free bus service from Washington Street near the Wave Bus Station (Saturdays only) from 2:00 PM. Admission is free, with donations accepted for the Nantucket Garden Club’s Island Daffodil Planting Fund. The show is also on Sunday April 28 from 10am – 3pm

On Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Cisco Brewers will provide live music with Steve Rondo.

Concert: Meg, Cathy and Linda

On Saturday, April 27 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, Islanders and sisters Meg Hunter and Cathy Morris Aguiar will join Linda Atherton to perform a concert of original music at the Nantucket Atheneum.

These singers, musicians and songwriters combine their talents in mixed music genres. Their first three albums were folk influenced. The fourth album was country-ishand their latest, just-released album is called Bluesey. They often sing, play and record together and enjoy sharing their musical works with the Island community at the Athenaeum. Meg is from Nantucket and now lives across the pond on the Cape. Cathy is a native Nantucketer and lives on the island. Linda is originally from Arkansas and currently lives in Portland. All three have been singing and performing for as long as they can remember.

On Saturday, April 27 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Nantucket Dreamland, after another year of sold-out parties for Halloween and Christmas Stroll in 2023, The Dreamland continues a new annual tradition: The Daffy Party utilizes the entire second floor of The Dreamland and with live music from one of Nantucket’s favorite bands.
