Phoenix hits 17 threes, hands out a 35-point drubbing to NLEX

PHOENIX turned to its outside shooting to defeat NLEX, 112-77, on Saturday in the PBA 48th Season Philippine Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Fuelmasters made 17 three-pointers en route to their second win in the last three games, improving their win-loss record to 3-5.

It’s also Phoenix’s worst loss in franchise history, according to PBA statistics chief Fidel Mangonon.

RJ Jazul led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting from threes, while Kenneth Tuffin had 17 points and was a perfect 3-for-3 from Rainbow Country.

Phoenix also limited the league’s leading scorer, Robert Bolick, to 11 points after struggling to a 3-for-11 clip from the field.

The Road Warriors lost for the second time in a row, dropping to 5–3, a crucial defeat for their bid to claim one of two twice-beating incentives in the quarter-finals.

NLEX also suffered the second-worst loss in franchise history, according to Mangonon, with a 35-point defeat.
